Reporting lines, duties, learning objectives, compensation, etc
Reporting Lines
Time spent at 7 Sports Group, I will be shadowing Ryan Smith on his daily activities. Ryan is a Certified NFL agent and is looking to expand into the MLB industry. With my background in professional baseball, I will be assisting Ryan in recruiting and building up the baseball department. I will be reporting directly to Ryan every time I am in the office. Any contractual or legal duties will be supervised by the firm's lawyer John Mattey. Social media duties will be handled through Brian Cimicata who is responsible for marketing and branding each client. Each client has a media plan established and executed through various lines of public relations.
Duties
During the time I am at 7 Sports Group, I will be involved in various aspects of the agency. The main duty for me will be handling the MLB department and using my experience as a professional baseball player to recruit and meet with prospective players. I will be learning the process of contacting and recruiting amateur and professional baseball players along with the details of a MLB contract. The first agenda on my list of duties is to understand and learn the details of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The CBA is a contract between the MLB Player's Association and the MLB in which all professional baseball players must adhere to while under contract. Amongst learning the details of the CBA, I will be involved in player/agent contracts and various administrative tasks. Each client under contract of 7 Sports Group receives a media plan in order to gain full exposure within the sports industry. "Media stacks" are player presentations used to market each client to companies who are looking to endorse the client. Typically this will entail gathering client playing statistics, accomplishments, and accolades in their given sport. I will also be given the task to make a database that includes any company that is a good candidate to endorse any of our clients. Contact information for each company will be compiled into one spreadsheet with the main point of contact listed. Other duties will be added as time moves on along with accompanying Ryan on recruiting visits with prospective clients and meeting with current clients.
